Care label package for clothing companies
The cost of producing care labels has fallen with the introduction of a care label printer, fabric and ink package from Paxar. The new Paxar 9830CL thermal printer has been teamed-up with a new dip-coated nylon fabric and new thermal transfer ink.The package is targeted at medium sized clothing manufacturers seeking low cost inplant apparel labelling. It is being promoted as a one-stop solution with the care tape, ink, ribbons, label and printer all being supplied by Paxar.The company says the 9830CL is a robust and reliable low-cost-of-ownership solution with the emphasis on simplicity and flexibility, where labels can be printed as required.The package calls for the minimum of operator training. It is simple to load, with easy flip-up access to the print head should jams occur. Set up of the software is also said to be undemanding. Extra long care tape reels last longer and a new design of ribbon mechanism ensures the system is not plagued by ribbon wrinkle.It prints high quality labels on to a wide selection of fabrics available from Paxar. Traffic Mapping For Your Mobile Phone
In late July, Google announced that it will be offering live traffic information to mobile phones in more than thirty U.S. cities. Plans to provide the traffic feature to PCs are still in the works. The Google traffic feature will be released as an update to the free Google Maps for Mobile service, which has been available for 18 months for download on the Google web site. Google would not disclose how many subscribers it has, but it says the number is growing rapidly.The feature expands Google's mapping technology into an area where Microsoft Corp. and Yahoo already have a presence, but in different ways. Yahoo and Microsoft offer real-time traffic information on their Web-based mapping services for PCs. Microsoft has chosen to move into the mobile ?space? by licensing traffic-monitoring technology for mobile devices to a Kirkland-based startup, InRix Inc. Yahoo currently has no mobile traffic service. MapQuest, an AOL property, offers traffic reports over cell phones for $2.99 per month.With typical bombast, Microsoft announced that when operable, the InRix mobile service will actually predict upcoming traffic problems ? however currently the MSN mobile mapping technology provides no traffic information at all.In the cities where it works, the Google feature will show traffic conditions on most major highways - indicating green for clear roadways, yellow for medium congestion and red for high congestion or stopped traffic. Google Maps will work on most Java-enabled phones offered by Cingular and Sprint and all color BlackBerry devices. The service does not currently work on phones from other major carriers such as Verizon or T-Mobile USA. Google Maps sends the data ? obtained from an undisclosed source - every five minutes.Although Google's free service doesn't identify traffic hazards or accidents, it will let drivers know if there is a clogged road. Google also shows the expected drive time for a route when phone users search for driving directions. It has introduced a feature that lets users save their favorite locations and frequently used driving directions for future use.The three search engines are not alone, however. In February, Rand McNally Traffic began offering a downloadable mobile application that delivers news of real-time traffic flow, accidents, weather conditions and road closures to 94 cities. Rand McNally Traffic is available on Sprint, Nextel, AT&T Wireless and other services for $3.99 a month.Media giant Clear Channel Communications' Total Traffic Network feeds content in 125 markets in the country to 15 services. One of them provides the information to subscribers with Sprint mobile phones for a $9.99 monthly subscription. That service is relatively new. In addition to weather conditions and traffic information, the service also provides data on gas station prices.Cell phones are rapidly turning into GPS devices, with localized information as an added feature. It remains to be seen how many people will turn to their cell phone screens for traffic news, one eye on the road and another on the phone. In some states and several local jurisdictions, it is already illegal to use a handheld cell phone while driving. Some of these jurisdictions allow hands free use, but that won?t help with a visual feature. It will be interesting to see if this new functionality is limited by governmental concern over safe driving habits. 2005 Ford Escape Hybrid Certified For Clean-Fuel Deduction
If you are environmentally conscious and purchase a 2005 Ford Escape Hybrid vehicle that combines a gasoline-powered engine with alternative power methods, you are in line for a nice tax deduction.Ostensibly, the government uses clean power tax deductions as a method to promote the use of vehicles that are less harmful to the environment. The clean-fuel tax deduction is based on the incremental cost of using a vehicle model that combines traditional gasoline-powered engines with electric motors. The deduction is only available if the manufacturer has submitted vehicle specifications that the IRS has agreed to qualify the vehicle as a "Clean-Fuel Vehicle". Once this has occurred, the IRS then certifies the vehicle as one that qualifies an owner for a tax deduction.On December 13, 2004, the IRS certified the 2005 Ford Escape Hybrid as a "Clean-Fuel Vehicle" for the first time. If you purchased the Ford Escape in 2004 or 2005, you may claim a tax deduction of $2,000. You must comply with two requirements before claiming the deduction. Under current law, you must:1. Take the deduction in the year the vehicle was originally purchased,and2. Be the original owner, of the vehicle.Importantly, you do not have to itemize your deductions to take advantage of the Clean-Fuel deduction. If you are using the basic 1040 form for filing your taxes, simply write "clean fuel" on line 33 and take the deduction. Make sure you review the instructions for form 1040 to correctly claim the deduction. The process is exceedingly simple.It should be noted that the Clean-Fuel Vehicle deduction is a one-time deduction. Further, the deduction is only available on your federal tax return, not your state filing. Since the deduction will affect your adjusted gross income, however, you should see an additional saving on your state tax return since your adjusted gross income will be reduced. The Symptoms of Addiction
Addictions are most commonly associated with drug and alcohol addiction. The truth is millions of people suffer from all kinds of addictions. Common addictions are to alcohol, controlled substances and prescription medicines. Additions you might not think are addictions are related to compulsive behaviors like gambling, shopping, food, the internet.An addiction of any type is readily recognized by the fact that it is not a matter of choice. Individuals who are addicts do not have the ability to decide to stop abusing, for example, alcohol or a certain drug, or even the behaviors of gambling or shopping. Addictions affect the user, their family and friends.What is an addiction? How does an addiction begin? When does the pattern of behavior become an addiction? Some individuals may be able to use a substance or engage in a behavior periodically over a period of years without becoming addicted. Other individuals are not capable of stopping and do become addicted.Are addictions only in certain social, educational or ethnic groups? Absolutely not! There is no such thing as a typical addict. The causes of addiction have been studied for several years. Addiction is caused by the emotion the substance or behavior brings about in the user. The body and mind become dependent on that feeling and seeks to maintain it. There are addiction risk factors that make some people more likely than others to become addicts. Studies show that sometimes addictions can be hereditary. The child of an alcoholic may not grow up to be an alcoholic; however, they may become addicted to gambling or some other type of compulsive behavior as an adult. Besides hereditary, individuals who grow up in families with abuse, neglect and who are impoverished are more likely to become addicts. For most addicts, it can be extremely difficult to recognize that what they have associated as simply a habit is actually an addiction. While every individual is different there are some symptoms that are prevalent among most addicts and addictions: Symptom # 1 Unable to meet responsibilities at home, school or office. Symptom # 2 Continues to use substances or engage in behavior even when it is dangerous. Symptom # 3 The need increases to engage in behavior or use more of a substance to achieve the same effect or feeling. Symptom # 4 Has tried but failed to stop using the substance or end the behavior. Symptom # 5 Continues to engage in the behavior or use the substances even when they are aware of the dangers. Answering yes to three or more of the above symptoms during a 12 month period may show that you or a loved one has an addiction. The first step to treating an addiction is recognizing that it exists. There is no cure for an addiction. Treatment and counseling can help an addict to learn how to control their behavior, withstand impulses and recognize the presence of a problem, but an addict is never cured. Treating an addiction can take years and requires ongoing support from friends, families and support groups. A 12 step program can be particularly beneficial in treating an addiction. One of the most well known 12 step programs is AA, also known as Alcoholics Anonymous. There are similar programs for all types of addictions. Living with an addiction requires a daily commitment and there is always the possibility of relapsing. An addict that has been "clean" for even 20 years can succumb to temptation just as they did decades before. There are several treatment programs and centers that can help with the numerous types of addictions that are prevalent today. Many of them are anonymous. Support groups are also available to help family and friends who experience the effects of an addiction in a loved one.
