California needs more energy and more power plants and now here we are in another hot summer and rolling brown outs? What is a brown out? Is that a Jerry Brown out? Because last time I checked he is still in government, but pretty much out of California State Leadership. California Seriously Under Powered and they need more power plants now.Nevertheless if you own a business a blackout can be a disaster to your production, distribution and cause you complete chaos and so you need back up power to your business to prevent these disruptions; do you have a plan? Your management team needs to consider this, as this is a really serious issue.Consider if you will a major earthquake in the state of California taking out a few power plants and power transmission lines. Such a major disruption on top of the rolling blackouts will simply put California further behind. Additionally a large earthquake will take out to power plants as well.Can your business withstand a long-term power outage and still survive? Do you have necessary cash flow on hand? Do you have a disaster plan? Have you considered this with your management team, as the time to plan is before disaster strikes.California needs to think ahead and be sure to properly secure its energy assets. But what is the problem? California is the six largest economy in the world and they should be able to afford to build power plants because the return on investment makes sense. Well, indeed it does however you must also consider the crazy environmentalists who continually prevent the EIRs or environmental impact reports from getting approved.California is seriously under powered, but Californians are their own worst enemy. California must take a good hard look at its energy policies and plan ahead. It is too late for this summer but last time we checked things were not getting any easier. Your business also needs to plan ahead, have back up and consider all the long-term implications of higher energy costs or no power at all. Consider this in 2006.Lance Winslow
