Where is the Hybrid Car Market Going in the Future?

Author : Lance Winslow
We have all heard a lot about hybrid cars lately and with prices between two dollars and three dollars per gallon we are hearing more and more each month. But where are all these hybrids we have been promised? Currently on the market there are only about 12 hybrid models that you can buy that are available in the United States. Research shows that by 2012 there may be as many as 52 models available of hybrids.More and more Americans are considering buying a hybrid car, in fact when surveyed 33% of all Americans say they would consider buying a highbred for their next car. Since the average person buys a car every three to four years that means if there were more high breads available to buy that we would see a whole lot more on the road. The problem is; is that very few of the cars being built today are hybrids. In fact the percentage is less than 1% right now of the 17 million cars built per year. Why are people interested in buying hibrid cars? Well when asked nearly all of them said their number one reason was to improve fuel economy. And only a few really were considering their number one reason was the fact that it would help the environment.Although in these surveys many of the consumers gave other reasons on top of the number one reason to save fuel such as; help break America's addiction to foreign oil, receiving tax credits and wanting to have new technology. Nevertheless, as more hybrid cars are being built more will be sold and this has enticed the US automakers to jump into the game. Please consider all this in 2006."Lance Winslow" - Online Think Tank forum board. If you have innovative thoughts and unique perspectives, come think with Lance; http://www.WorldThinkTank.net/wttbbs/
